French DJ Onra´s Chinoiseries is an instrumental hip hop album, constructed from samples taken out of old Vietnamese records.

Onra writes on his MySpace page: I started this project in August 2006, when I got back from a trip to Viet Nam, the land of my grandparents. As a vinyl junky, I really couldn’t come back to France without bringing back some wax. After hours spent riding on a motorbike in Saigon streets, a taxi finally helped me find some old Asian records. I was feeling like an explorer discovering a forgotten treasure. I bought almost 30 vinyls, most of them in poor condition, went back to the crib, and started making beats with some material that I wasn’t used to.

Day N´ Nite – the coolest song of 2008 is finally getting mainstream attention (althought I like the Crookers remix the best). Kid Cudi and Kanye West premiered Day N´ Nite video last night on Kanye´s blog.

N.A.S.A. have taken six years to compile the ultimate celebrity guest list, featuring 40-odd big names from George Clinton to M.I.A. to most of the Wu-Tang Clan according to the guardian.co.uk.

The new N.A.S.A. video is The People Tree and this time they´re collaborating with David Byrne who wrote a tune and some words for The People Tree. You can hear David Byrne singing alongside rhymes by Chali 2na, Gift Of Gab & Z-Trip. The visuals are by Canadian artist Marcel Dzama.

Check out this emerging duo from NYC/Paris, eRNEST & AMz. They mix old school hip-hop flows with new school beats and combine influences from New York and Paris music scene. Enjoyed their track You Make Me Funky, it´s retro but fresh and has a great bouncy flow.
