Electro/synth band The Presets is one the most popular and acclaimed bands in Australia, officially so after winning three Arias last month (the Australian version of the Grammy). Fellow Australians, Cut Copy and Modular´s DJ crew the Bang Gang DeeJays, have reworked two tracks by The Presets:

Check out UK electro band Cicada´s first single Falling Rockets from their second album set to be released early next year. Icelandic singer Heidrun Bjornsdottir collaborates on the track. I like the warmth of the real instruments and the combination of 80s sounds with modern electro.

Le Corps Mince De Françoise is a new band from Helsinki, Finland and getting attention on music blogs right now. The three Finnish girls combine fresh electro/new wave style with energetic party band attitude. Le Corps Mince De Françoise have a new single Ray-Ban Glasses coming out October 29th on New Judas, before that get a remix of Le Corps Mince De Françoise´s Ray-Ban Glasses by Les Gillettes on Discobelle.

Just can´t help loving everything the MGMT guys do. Now it´s the new MGMT video The Youth, directed by Eric Wareheim. The song is brilliant and the video to The Youth carries the consistent psychedelic electro/indie MGMT style, this time with breakdancing disco kids.

Katy Perry´s new single Hot N Cold is very mainstream pop and a text book example of mainstream pop songwriting. It´s written by baby-one-more-time Max Martin and produced by Dr. Luke (he´s worked with Avril Lavigne). What I like about Hot N Cold is the electro sound and synths.

The new video for Hot N Cold shows how see-through the product placement in music videos has become. In the video we see Diesel sunglasses and Nokia mobile phone. The video is actually quite funny, except it presents annoyingly stereotypical gender roles.
