The Brooklyn based trio Chairlift premieres great video for their song Evident Utensil. There´s some creative use of paint effect and paused pixels on the video. The video is directed by Ray Tintori, the guy behind MGMT´s Time To Pretend and Electric Feel videos. His recent big budget work was The Killers´ Spaceman video.

Boy Crisis is a new band from Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY that Pitchfork delacred absolute worst band in the world right now. Think of every awful cliché about Williamsburg hipster douchebags, then multiply them by 100. Then take those clichés and have them play ironic “smoove” white boy electro r&b. There you have Boy Crisis.
Hmm… I think Boy Crisis should not be taken too seriously. The track L´homme is ironic, but it´s also smooth and pulsing electro-pop. The Franglaise part of L´homme features Caroline Polachek from Chairlift.
The Brooklyn duo MGMT´s Kids is a brilliant song and the Soulwax Remix gives it a new clubby feel. The remix has been around for sometime, but now Pete Tong picked it up and Kids (Soulwax Remix) is his last weeks essential new tune.
I saw Yeasayer play live last night and liked them a lot. The band remained very into their music, passionate about it and at the same time they were really warm. Their music is art, it´s been described “psychedelic folk” or something, but to me it reflected the cultural diversity of the band and Brooklyn, New York, where Yeasayer comes from. Yeasayer mixes up great, sometimes dark melodies and world rhythms. 2080 by Yeasayer is a gorgeous track and perhaps best example of their music.
Released on September 8th 2008, Impatience is the new single from Brooklyn’s We Are Scientists´. Watch bassist Chris Cain turning into a werewolf below:
The previous single and video After Hours by We Are Scientists is also based on the same kind of humour and bassist Chris Cain being the underdog in the beginning:
Cruel Black Dove is an emerging new band from Brooklyn. Their dark electronic sounds and intense attitude just demands attention. The band was formed by singer Anastasia Dimou and producer Alan Veucasovic, later Taiwan native Shirley Ho joined to play bass and Jonathan Nanberg the drums. They sound and look very modern noir. Yeasayer is one of the most interesting bands that emerged last year. They come from Brooklyn (which seems to be the place for interesting acts at the moment), tour with MGMT and create experimental indie rock. A track from Yeasayer album All Hour Cymbals calledSunrise is available for free online. The song is very original and intellectual yet easy to listen.
