Saw the Broken Social Scene perform last night on their "Impregnate the Skies" tour. They played for over 2 hours and the lineup was mostly seven people. The athmosphere was intimate and relaxed, they chatted a lot and did some improvising. BSS is a great live band, you can really enjoy their skillful set, even if you are not a musician or that into progressive indie rock. Wish they would wash their hair though!

Katy Perry video I Kissed A Girl is a disappointment. When we are just reading about Lindsey Lohan´s "engagement" with Samantha Ronson, or seeing Britney and Madonna kiss girls every chance they get, it feels very lame to make a I kissed A Girlvideo where the kiss with the girl was just a dream. Boring and calculated. I wish she would have been bolder, because now it just feels like the record company doesn´t want to upset the "main stream" audience. But anyway, it turns out that the Katy Perry I Kissed a Girl video and single is becoming huge.
There´s very interesting technique used in Kanye West Flashing Lights Part 2 video. It´s made of still images and it changes from black and white images to color. I think this version might be targeted to European markets. But again, the story and message is confusing… bad things happen to girls who want too much?? And she gets raped because of her lifestyle. Come on… old fashioned, stereotypical views of women and sexual roles.
