“Flashing Lights“, the fourth single from Graduation, is one of Kanye West´s most intriguing tracks. The song improves on every listen, even thought it´s not a big Kanye song like Gold Digger or Jesus Walks. The video is disturbing, maybe even a bit misogynist (although I think it´s supposed to be the opposite).
The Kills and their track “Cheap and Cheerful” that was released earlier this year, are a great example of how lo-fi you can go musically. The band has also gained a lot of non-musical interest lately since the guitarist Jamie Hince started dating the all-time indie band groupie Kate Moss.
At first the single “Trash” might sound too easy and simple, but after all, it´s that rare talent of simplicity that just works so well in pop music. They are The Whip, electro-dance-rockers from Manchester.
Here´s my new favorite track and a super tune: Rochelle´s “Fer De Lance”. A combination of an angel-voiced singer and a bit like Justice, but more straightforward synths and structure. They come from Leeds and the single will be released in May.
The ultimate party band CSS from Brazil has announced that bass player Ira Trevisan has left the group for personal reasons. One reason is that she´s concerned about climate change and decided to fly less. That´s the best reason ever to quit a band! Well, here´s a tribute to Ira and Cansei De Ser Sexy. “Music Is My Hot, Hot Sex” is the most viewed music video on YouTube, thanks to iPod Touch ad that featured the song.
“Let´s Make Love and Listen to Death from above” is a super tune with a killer hook, one of my all time favorite songs.
A lot of positive reviews are popping up for Hardy Candy. Music critics and journalists have listened to the CD on album playback sessions and are giving thumbs up!
The Black Kids have gained a lot of hype recently. They come from Florida, but don´t sound very American. There´s something very cheerful and promising in their single ‘I’m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend ", which makes you believe they´re are living up to the hype.
The distributor made a mistake and left out a track from Jori Hulkkonen´s CD. To compensate it, the Finnish DJ and house music producer offers his tune “Customs Person” for free. Download is enabled on http://www.myspace.com/jorihulkkonen
His new CD is soon out, can´t wait to hear it: Sam Sparro´s music sounds like Italian house meets soul. He writes and performs his music, has a deep voice, looks sharp… he basically has it. This is “Black and Gold” video and a great, great song.
